What better way to celebrate President’s Day than to recount the tale of Lincoln/Douglass?

(Yes, I actually was drunk.  No, there wasn’t a script.)

Sometimes I play against random people in Words With Friends. And sometimes, I beat the same random person two games in a row. And sometimes, I take a 75 point lead on them in the 3rd game. And sometimes, they get mad about it.

In 1997, I worked briefly in A&R at Capitol Records. One of the coolest things about the job was getting access to their incredible vaults. This was not long after Apple had put together The Beatles Anthology, so there was still access to copies of master tapes.

I managed to get my hands on this extremely rare version of “For No One” from the Revolver sessions. It does not appear on any of the Anthology releases and I haven’t seen it on any of the usual bootlegs.

What’s cool about this version, is that Paul McCartney hadn’t worked out all the lyrics yet. There’s some placeholder stuff that isn’t in the version of the song we know.

Enjoy!

A must listen, for Beatles fans and non-fans alike.

How the conversation went in my head:

Me: I'd like to pay off my credit card- a hundred from my checking account.

Teller: A hundred?

Me: That's correct.

How the conversation apparently went in her head:

Me: I'd like to pay off my credit card- eight hundred from my checking account.

Teller: Eight hundred?

Me: That's correct

And now I'm out $700 in cash because I used a long "ay" sound instead of an "uh."

(Also, I'm don't normally have even enough to pay off $100 on my credit card, but I got my school loan refund check. And I suppose it's for the best that I don't just have that cash sitting there in my account.)

HDTGM 30: COOL AS ICE w/ Vanilla Ice and Brian Huskey
“When a girl has a heart of stone there is only one way to melt it…just add ICE”
That’s the tagline to this movie. It doesn’t make any sense nor is it relevant to the plot.
Suffice it to say this movie is as insane as you want it to be and more.
We as the important questions. Like who is that? What’s happening? and Why did that happen?
PLUS: We sat down with Vanilla Ice to hear him recall HOW DID THIS GET MADE?
